Golden Hammer Awards
Volunteerism is a key element of the Habitat for Humanity model. When most people think about volunteering for Habitat, they assume they will be working on a construction site. But we rely on volunteers to do many more things for us. The four Golden Hammer Award Recipients of 2009 have contributed their time and talents to make us a much stronger and more successful organization.
Please email the volunteer coordinator if you have a nomination for the Golden Hammer Award.
Recent Golden Hammer Awards
include the following outstanding volunteers:
Norberto Leon
Norberto is an architect who has provided his design knowledge and expertise to Habitat for over 7 years. On a pro bono basis, he designed the Newton homes and the Needham home. He has advised us on design matters relating to several other projects, including our move to new office space in February 2008. We are grateful for everything Norberto does for us.
Pam McLemore
Pam McLemore contacted us in 2006, wanting to volunteer in any capacity that would be helpful to us. After learning she was a retired executive from Bank of America, we suggested she take on one of our thorniest problems – helping our condominium associations with property management issues. Pam not only took on the task with her characteristic enthusiasm and professionalism, she faithfully worked two afternoons a week in our office for over a year. Pam has been a great asset to Habitat and to the residents of our homes.
Carl Racine and Ron Dennenberg
Carl Racine and Ron Dennenberg are part of a skilled group of volunteer carpenters who meet at one of our Habitat construction sites every Wednesday, eager to take on any task. This group is aptly named the “Wednesday Regulars” and we rely on them to provide us with skilled labor every week. Carl and Ron have both been part of the Wednesday Regulars for over 8 years. Carl and Ron, thank you for all of your help to Habitat Greater Boston.
